"Cross Country Championships"

  • Date:  4th March 2017

  • Course:  Course   Both races start and finish on the same line - we will use the normal 1500m loop as designed in Abbottstown with the additional distance for the men's race (up and down the Abbottstown designed finish straight giving a 1900m lap). The Ladies do not race on this extra 400m lap. Ladies race as follows: Start straight + 3 x 1500m lap + Finish straight = 4900m approx. Men's race as follows: Start straight + 4 x 1900m lap + Finish straight = 8000m approx.
  • Changing / Check-in:  Car parking is adjacent to the course itself plus changing will be at the back of the FAI soccer building (about 250 metres from the course). Check-in is the same building (front) nearer to the course 
  • Start Time:  Women:  12.30pm Be alert on the day in case the time moves.      Men:  1.15pm Be alert on the day in case the time moves.
  • Overview:  This is a one day Intervarsity Championship open to all members. The hosting of the event is rotated between member colleges every year. The event is held in the spring. The trophies are presented at the Intervarsity dinner, which is held that evening in a local hotel. Each College can enter teams of up to 14 female and 16 male undergraduate / postgraduate students, of which up to 4 of these can be 'one year down' athletes. The first 4 women and the first 6 men score points for their college. The college with the lowest points total wins. In addition, up to 10 male and 10 female 'Substitute' athletes can also run.
  • Intervarsity Banquet:  The Intervarsity Banquet is back this year. The Banquet will be in the O'Callaghan Davenport Hotel, on Merrion Square, Dublin 2, behind Trinity College. Tickets will cost 37, including 4 Course meal and DJ. Kick off 7pm. The trophies will be presented during the Intervarsity Banquet.
  • Future Hosts:    2017/18: TBC
