"Celtic Track & Field International, Antrim"

Northern Ireland U23 v Scottish Universities v
Irish Universities

Event Details

  • Date:  June 2006. New format under discussion
  • Venue:  The Antrim Forum.
  • Overview:  This is an international Triangular meeting between the Irish Universities, Scottish Universities and the Northern Ireland U23. The event is hosted by the NIAF and usually takes place in the evening. The trophies are presented at the post competition meal. All competing athletes will receive an IUAA singlet.
  • Teams:  Teams are primarily picked on performances in the IUAA T&F Championships, although some flexability is applied to enable athletes who were unavailable to compete in the intervarsities to be selected based on their performances in other competitions. Team sheets will be posted after the Intervarsities and all selected athletes should contact the email address on the left hand side of this page to confirm their availability. This should be done as promptly as possible so as to enable reserve athletes to be contacted, should they be required.
  • Singlets:  All competing athletes will receive an IUAA singlet, however, athletes who have received a singlet in previous years are asked to bring it with them incase there aren't enough to go around on the night.
  • Cost:  €25. This is to help cover the cost of the bus and accommodation.
  • Travel Arrangements:  All athletes travelling should meet at the front gate of Trinity College at 12.40 SHARP. Any Athletes making their own way there should contact the email address on the bottom left of this page so as to avoid any confussion over whether they are travelling or not. We will be travelling by coach so there will be plenty of room for pole vaults and other equipment. The bus usually arrives back in Dublin at lunchtime the following day.
  • Lunch:  We won't be stopping for lunch: Please try and have your lunch prior to arriving at the meeting point or please bring a suitable lunch with you to eat on the bus. Due to the new motorway it is dificult and time consuming to find a suitable venue for lunch.
  • Accommodation Arrangements:  Overnight accommodation is arranged either locally (Antrim) or in Belfast.
  • Night Life:  No event would be complete without some sort of late night entertainment. This event is no exception!
  • N.B.:  The trip takes place over two days. Dinner and breakfast are provided. Don't forget to bring sterling (£). You can use your bank cards in ATM machines up North to get sterling.
